After
studying transverse flute and recorder in Munich, Martin Wenner began training
as a flute maker at the C. Mollenhauer company in Fulda. During this time he
received further training in restoration techniques through courses and volunteer
internships. For three further years Martin Wenner dealt with the construction
of recorders at the Küng company in Schaffhausen. In 1991 he passed his Master
Craftsman Examination with distinction. The workshop for flute construction,
which he founded in Singen, first specialized in the construction of German
flutes as well as the restoration and repair of transverse flutes. In 1995 a
move to the current workshop in Aluminiumstrasse took place. Shortly thereafter,
the first silver transverse flute, the so-called Unicorn Flute ("Einhornflöte"),
was presented. Head joints made of silver, gold, and wood were also added to
the program. Since Spring 2002, high quality copies of recorders have been manufactured
in the Singen workshop. Martin Wenner has written numerous articles about flutes
and flute construction for professional journals and books.
